Hamisa Zaja | KENYA
Hamisa Zaja, founder and chairperson of the Coast Association for Persons with Disabilities in Mombasa, Kenya, empowers people with disabilities. She also works as a program officer at Maji Na Ufanisi, a charity focused on water and sanitation projects for vulnerable communities in Kenya. As a person with a disability, Zaja is dedicated to promoting peace and security for all.
Josephine Ekiru | KENYA
Josephine Ekiru of Kenya received the 2021 Women Building Peace Award. As the Peace Coordinator for the Northern Rangelands Trust, she works across ethnic and language divisions, helping tribes end violent conflicts.
María Eugenia Mosquera Riascos | COLOMBIA
María Eugenia Mosquera Riascos is the legal representative of CONPAZCOL, a network of 140 victims' organizations across Colombia. With over 30 years of experience, she works as a peacebuilder and human rights defender, supporting women, Afro-Colombian, indigenous, and farming communities affected by conflict.
Abir Haj Ibrahim | Syria
Abir Haj Ibrahim is a co-founder of Mobaderoon, a Syrian civil society network that trains community organizations and promotes volunteering for social change. She also co-founded Globally Connected, a network that fosters understanding between the Syrian diaspora, host communities, and Syrians in Syria.
