Sareen Hairabedian is an American-Jordanian documentary filmmaker who splits her time between Washington D.C. and New York. Her eagerness to tell socially conscious stories led to the foundation of HAI Creative, a boutique production company that collaborates with organizations such as HBO, UN Women, United States Institute of Peace, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Surgo Foundation and various independent artists, to create human-driven films that bring the voices of the unheard and underrepresented to screen. Sareen’s directorial debut WE ARE NOT DONE YET is an award winning HBO documentary that highlights ten U.S. veterans grappling with PTSD who use art and poetry to process their traumatic pasts. She is currently developing her next documentary tackling issues of identity, resilience and connection to land. When she’s not making films, Sareen connects to her dance background and explores the connections between choreography and technology.
The District of Columbia Office of Cable Television, Film, Music, and Entertainment (OCTFME) recognized Sareen Hairabedian as the December 2018 Filmmaker of the Month. https://entertainment.dc.gov/release/fotm-DECEMBER-2018
